In the first instance people can visit the SNDC website or contact the community Help Hub. SNDC also can issue hardship grants for people who may be in financial difficulties due to losing their job or income because of the pandemic. For individuals who need financial help the contact details are www.south-norfolk.gov.uk/coronavirus or call 01508 533933. For businesses who need help they can visit the New Anglia Growth Hub website for free support at Growthhub@newanglia.co.uk or call on 0300 333 6536.
Learnyay helps adults find free education courses and training, by connecting them with ESFA and local authority funded colleges, schools and training providers in their area.
With many people furloughed and self-isolating, they feel it’s more important than ever to raise awareness about free education courses and training.
They are encouraging home learning to help people make the most of their time and cope better with self-isolation. It should also improve their employment prospects at a time when many jobs are at risk.

Last week a good number of our residents stood and clapped and cheered from their doorways to show their appreciation for the NHS staff and carers who have been working tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This amazing show of public thanks is being repeated this evening at 8.00pm and on forthcoming Thursdays.
Please join in from your doorways or open windows this evening, and also include if you wish many other services and teams (viz. shop staff, delivery drivers, fire services, etc).
Norwich Best for Pets has been busy working with Norwich City Council and Voluntary Norfolk as part of the Covid-19 Community Response, setting-up help for Norfolk pet owners who are self-isolating or social-distancing. We now have a list of registered volunteers who are able to walk/transport to vets/foster etc. Our first volunteers are out already helping an elderly gentleman (who is self-isolating because of health issues) and his gorgeous lab (update: one of our walkers will now be fostering the dog because the gentleman has gone into respite). We appreciate key workers may be working long hours or have relatives who need help so if we can help YOU it would be our privilege. Anyone interested in helping please register with The Voluntary Norfolk portal: https://www.voluntarynorfolk.org.uk/…/register-to…/ and email norwichbestforpets@gmail.com with details of experience and type of pet you could help.
Officers are urging elderly residents to be vigilant following a number of telephone scams in which callers are pretending to be police officers. Find out more here > http://ow.ly/xxv350yY8OM
Friends, family, carers and neighbours are asked to spread the word to ensure everyone is aware of this scam and what they should do.
We have completed the first week under movement restrictions, and staying at home regulations.
The “NHS Clap” was supported in both villages and personally I found it very moving.
The emergency team volunteers have been busy supporting many vulnerable residents. The most requested help last week was for collecting medicines. Also there have been requests for shopping, availability thankfully has improved and we have been able to buy the majority of requests.
We are trying to keep up with information offering a service
The Feathers on A146 now offering a pre-order takeaway service
Do you have any tips for fellow residents that you are using to help get through these difficult times. Please share via the website
If there is any support you need and not sure if we can help please ring your area volunteer or Sue or me. Our team are flexible and good at problem solving and very happy to help.
Please pass on information to anyone who does not have internet access
Get coronavirus support as an extremely vulnerable person
Register if you have a medical condition that makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus. For example, you’ll be able to ask for help getting deliveries of essential supplies like food.
If you’re not sure whether your medical condition makes you extremely vulnerable, register anyway.
This service is free. You can register yourself, or for someone else.
Before you start
You’ll be asked for your NHS number (but you can still register if you do not have it). You can find your NHS number on any letter the NHS has sent you or on a prescription.
