As the government has begun to relax the lockdown Sue and I just wanted to reassure everyone that the local volunteer team will be continuing to support those of you shielding or socially isolating.

There are no plans currently for the emergency plan to be wound up and we will adapt to needs as the Covid situation develops.

We will continue to shop, collect medicines and other support as needed.

The Chancellor has announced a new loan scheme –
the Coronavirus Bounce Back Loan –
to help small and medium-sized businesses affected by coronavirus.
The key details of the loan are below:
• The scheme will go live from Monday 4th May 2020 and cash will be released within days for eligible businesses.
• Businesses can borrow between £2,000 and £50,000.
• The Government will guarantee 100% of the loan and there won’t be any fees or interest to pay for the first 12 months.
• Loan terms will be up to 6 years.
• The Government will work with lenders to agree a low rate of interest for the remaining period of the loan.
• The scheme will be delivered through a network of accredited lenders.

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has launched a First Response helpline, offering immediate support for mental health difficulties. The free phone service, staffed by mental health professionals will provide reassurance, advice and support 24/7. Call 0808 196 3494.

DfE have launched the Skills Toolkit, a new online platform giving people easy access to free, high-quality digital and numeracy courses to help them build up their skills, progress in work and boost their job prospects.
The platform offers a range of courses at all levels, from introductory to advanced, which were chosen in consultation with top businesses and education experts. It’s open to everyone, whether they have recently been furloughed and want to learn new skills, are out of work and looking to build up their CV, or if they’re just keen to keep their mind healthy and skills sharp during this time.

Thank you to everyone for all your support lately. We have been overwhelmed with anyone’s gratitude and of course we appreciate very much your support to us as a small local business. And remember when you support us you are in turn supporting a whole host of local businesses and families.
Our food delivery service is still in full swing. Remarkably we have turned around almost every food order the following day after ordering….beat that supermarkets!!!! WE STILL HAVE CAPACITY TO HELP MORE PEOPLE, we hear there are people isolating who are too frightened to ask for a delivery…don’t be. AS LONG AS YOU LIVE WITHIN 5 MILES, WE CAN HELP YOU.
To help us to help everybody, we politefully ask you to utilise the information on our website for information such as delivery charges and where we are located! You’d be surprised how much time is taken up responding to messages and phone calls for this kind of information.
Our garden centre delivery service is experiencing a very high demand. We are able to cover a bigger area for this, ranging from Beccles to Southern Norwich and Hethersett to Brundall. We update and and add to our website everyday to give as much availability information as possible. If you could email your orders to us, using the website information as much as possible, that would help us greatly.
We were incredibly relieved to receive a compost delivery this week so our ration on multi purpose compost has now been lifted and growbags are back in stock again.
Finally, please remember ALL JOURNEYS HERE MUST BE FOR ESSENTIAL REASONS!

We have had a couple of deliveries which means we are able to provide a pre-arranged collection service starting Monday (Mon – Sat, 10am – 3pm). This includes pet food (dog, cat, horse, poultry etc), gas, fire wood, cleaning products etc. We are unable to replenish our stock of aggregates (both small and bulk) so these continue to be unavailable unfortunately. We are still offering plant hire.
We won’t be opening our doors for public access to the shop, and must stress again that collections are to be pre arranged only. We have very minimal staffing and can only cope if this is adhered to.
It would be very helpful if all requests could be emailed to claire@groundhoghomehardware.co.uk, but where that isn’t possible you can call us on 01508 492222. We will call you back to take card payment over the phone.
The phone lines have been very busy, even when we have been closed, so please bare with us and only call if you need to.
We will not be responding to facebook requests for orders or stock enquiries; again, please email those requests to us.
It may be possible to deliver to local residents who are unable to collect.
We will update you all as soon as anything changes.
