Norwich Best for Pets has been busy working with Norwich City Council and Voluntary Norfolk as part of the Covid-19 Community Response, setting-up help for Norfolk pet owners who are self-isolating or social-distancing. We now have a list of registered volunteers who are able to walk/transport to vets/foster etc. Our first volunteers are out already helping an elderly gentleman (who is self-isolating because of health issues) and his gorgeous lab (update: one of our walkers will now be fostering the dog because the gentleman has gone into respite). We appreciate key workers may be working long hours or have relatives who need help so if we can help YOU it would be our privilege. Anyone interested in helping please register with The Voluntary Norfolk portal: https://www.voluntarynorfolk.org.uk/…/register-to…/ and email norwichbestforpets@gmail.com with details of experience and type of pet you could help.
Thank YOU and stay safe!

Officers are urging elderly residents to be vigilant following a number of telephone scams in which callers are pretending to be police officers. Find out more here > http://ow.ly/xxv350yY8OM
Friends, family, carers and neighbours are asked to spread the word to ensure everyone is aware of this scam and what they should do.
We have completed the first week under movement restrictions, and staying at home regulations.
The “NHS Clap” was supported in both villages and personally I found it very moving.
The emergency team volunteers have been busy supporting many vulnerable residents. The most requested help last week was for collecting medicines. Also there have been requests for shopping, availability thankfully has improved and we have been able to buy the majority of requests.
We are trying to keep up with information offering a service
The Feathers on A146 now offering a pre-order takeaway service
Do you have any tips for fellow residents that you are using to help get through these difficult times. Please share via the website
If there is any support you need and not sure if we can help please ring your area volunteer or Sue or me. Our team are flexible and good at problem solving and very happy to help.
Please pass on information to anyone who does not have internet access

Get coronavirus support as an extremely vulnerable person
Register if you have a medical condition that makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus. For example, you’ll be able to ask for help getting deliveries of essential supplies like food.
If you’re not sure whether your medical condition makes you extremely vulnerable, register anyway.
This service is free. You can register yourself, or for someone else.
Before you start
You’ll be asked for your NHS number (but you can still register if you do not have it). You can find your NHS number on any letter the NHS has sent you or on a prescription.
This service is available in England.
Framingham Earl Post Office will stay open as best we can in this current situation. We are taking it day by day and if I have the staff to cover I will open. However I don’t have enough staff for this Saturday so will be closed🙁
So another update from Framingham Earl Post Office.
Sadly we have decided to reduce our opening hours to 3 days a week from now on. The footfall has dropped dramatically as expected. So the days I will be open are:
Monday
Wednesday
Thursday
Opening at 10am and closing at 4pm to start with but if quiet will close at 3pm
So sorry for the inconvenience and many thanks for your support at this difficult time.
Please could I urge everyone to only come in if it’s absolutely necessary. Please stay at home where possible.
Thanks for your understanding
One Stop will be open from 7:00am, and closing at 9:00pm, everyday.
We are now operating a one way system as well as social distancing measures.
No more than 10 in the shop, my team will ask you to wait outside.
We will be observing and stopping people if required.
If you bring your whole family to the shop we will ask for one person only to enter, if this isn’t possible (eg, a single parent with young children) we will count every member of your family as individual people. So if there’s 3 of you, you will need to wait for 3 people to leave.
This includes people using the post office.
Stay 2 meters away, so ideally in the centre of each of the boxes put down on the floor.
Please respect what we are doing to protect us all.
Our opening hours from next week will be as usual apart from
Monday to Friday we will be closed 8.30am-9.30am and 12.30pm-2pm
Saturday usual opening of 9am-1pm but operating a closed door policy as there is very limited staff (so please if it is not urgent for the weekend I would advise to leave till after the weekend)
We will be open till 6.30pm as usual Monday to Friday and again our phones will only be operating during our open periods.
This will be our opening times going forward for the next few weeks but I will update if there are any changes.
Can I please just take this opportunity to remind patients to please leave at least 5 working days from ordering your usual repeat prescriptions (not urgent or antibiotics etc) as we are getting so many patients coming in early (less then 24hours in branch) and so they aren’t ready which in turn makes the waiting time even longer for everyone and increases the pressure on us.
Please stay safe 💗
The UK population is being urged to applaud NHS staff at 8.00pm Thursday evening in a mass display of support and solidarity for frontline medical workers tackling the coronavirus pandemic.
Organisers of Clap for our Carers are asking the public to show their appreciation for the doctors, nurses, GPs, emergency workers and pharmacists involved in helping care for those affected by Covid-19 and other sick patients “during these unprecedented times”.
Please make a noise for these wonderful people…….
Recycling centres in Norfolk are now closed until further notice. Help us to keep our communities safe by staying home. Please hold onto your items until the centres are reopened. Visit http://norfolk.gov.uk/rubbish-recycling-and-planning/rubbish-and-recycling/rubbish-and-recycling-coronavirus-update for information. #staysafe #stayhome Please refer to your local district, borough or city council website for the latest information about household waste and recycling collections in your area.
Thank you.
Here is an important request from South Norfolk Council about bin collection and bins.
Residents should clean bin handles with disinfectant when they put out the bins and again when taking them in and wash hands after.
If anyone is self isolating due to a suspected case of Coronavirus there are special requirements.
If you could pass this information on this evening to anyone close to you that would be great.
Thank you.
