The main road through the centre of Thurton will be closed 23-25th Sep 2024, 8.15pm to 6.30am, so thankfully it’s only closed at night.

There’s an official alternative route given, but in practice that will be too wide for practical purposes of anyone reading this. Make your own call, but to me it looks like you can come off at Nursery Rd and rejoin at Hellington Corner (green pastures).

affecting the A146 Loddon Road from its junction with C374 Hall Road for 1970m north-westwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Thurton to facilitate Norfolk County Council cats eye replacement works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 20:15 and 06:30 from 23rd to 25th September 2024 only whilst signs indicating closure are in place, but may continue to be closed until the 6th November 2024 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Alternative route is via: A146 Norwich Road/ Loddon Bypass/ Beccles Road, A143 Yarmouth Road/ Broome Bypass, B1332 Norwich Road/ Bungay Road, A146 Loddon Road (Stockton, Framingham Pigot, Poringland, Kirstead, Ellingham, Framingham Earl, Ditchingham, Chedgrave, Kirby Bedon, Brooke, Yelverton, Broome, Hellington, Hales, Woodton, Gillingham, Loddon, Sisland, Thurton, Caistor St. Edmund and Bixley, Kirby Cane, Holverston, Hedenham).
